Decent Choice Near UConn

Prior to visiting UConn, I stayed at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Hartford Manchester. Overall, it was a decent experience. The hotel offers what you'd typically anticipate from a Homewood Suites and for the area: a decent room with basic amenities and a complimentary breakfast. I do want to acknowledge the fantastic check-in experience. There were some issues with my reservation and the front desk staff were extremely helpful and worked with me to resolve them. The rooms were somewhat clean, but there are a couple of areas for improvement. My suggestions to the hotel management would be to remove the mold in the shower and the dust in the room, as well as update the elevators as they showed signs of wear and could benefit from a revamp. However, they were still functional so I can't complain. Overall, if you're seeking a convenient stay near UConn with clean, updated rooms, the Homewood Suites by Hilton Hartford Manchester is a solid choice. There aren't many other options in the area since it's located in a desolate part of Connecticut.

My experience at this property was below what I would expect for a Hilton property. First, when you arrive expect a $200.00 hold to be placed on your card. Apparently, according to the front desk agent this property has problems with people damaging their rooms. I get this, but does everyone have to pay for a few bad actors. My stay was on a Monday night, the hotel was not full, and any guests were probably business travelers like myself needing a good nights rest. Full service Hilton’s don’t hold so much for incidentals. The property itself was well maintained and the room was comfortable. The morning breakfast was disappointing. Everything was cold, including the coffee that ran out anyway. There were no staff members assisting guests or ensuring food was both hot and available. This hotel is going to turn away a lot of customers by changing top class prices with low class service.

Convenient hotel location but too much employee drama

Gave this a 3/5 stars as the Executive King Suite was clean but some of the furniture appeared to be worn. Ar check-in, the person at the desk was very helpful and checked us in smoothly until someone (from house cleaning?) approached her and started berating her about how two of the rooms had been occupied for 3 weeks and they needed a deep clean before they were used again but apparently they were already reserved again for tonight…awkward to watch . Glad it wasn’t my room. Bed was relatively comfortable, a different from desk person promptly got us 2 extra pillows when requested . Pool was warm, a little dirty/black around the edges. Breakfast had a nice selection but the milk wasn’t on any type of chiller-glad I got there right when they started breakfast . Checkout was quick, thank goodness as right when my kids and I were leaving the front desk to go the car a loud verbal altercation ensued between 4 hotel guests and a front desk person ; apparently the front desk person had made an audible snarky comment about a guest’s age. Glad we left at the perfect time, as a police car showed up at the front just as we were pulling out of the parking lot. Overall the hotel was at a convenient location for my trip but I’d never return to this location .

Clean with large rooms

First time staying here and we would definitely return. The room was large and there is a full sized fridge. Room is cleaned every second day so would be nice if they left an extra box of tissues and a second bar of soap. Breakfast was awful and very limited. Our room attendant forgot the large shower towels so we had to go to the front desk and ask for some. Seemed a bit pricey for Manchester CT.

When i arrived to the hotel at 3 pm, the room wasn’t ready so I had to wait until 4.30 to check in, so next morning when I had to check out I asked the front desk employee Tobey if we can leave at around 12.30 or 1 since we had the room so late and she was the most disrespectful and nasty person talking to me saying No, it’s not my problem if the room wasn’t ready when u got here, the hotel is sold out and u can’t have a late check out, u have to leave at 12 sharp or I’m gonna charge u another night!!! ….. really????? This is how u, Hilton treat ur “honor” customers?????? The hotel is a 10, the staff is a -100. Don’t think I’m gonna use a hilton hotel again
